4 Things A Christian Academy Can Do For Your Child

Blog

Christian schools can provide lifelong foundations for kids to build upon. Christian schools are private academies where religion can be openly discussed and practiced. A Christian academy can do these things for your child:

1. Encourage Them to Memorize Bible Verses

Reading the Bible is an important activity for every Christian. However, simply reading the Bible isn't enough. Christians should also strive to memorize and put what they learn into practice. At a Christian academy, kids will be encouraged to memorize Bible verses. Religious education classes will give kids the chance to deepen their knowledge and appreciation for the Bible. Kids who have verses memorized will be able to fight the temptation to sin when it occurs in their lives. They'll be able to remain strong in their faith no matter what life throws their way.

2. Teach Them to Be Effective Witnesses for Christ

All Christians are called upon to be evangelists for Christ, even children. However, kids may not know how to be effective witnesses for Christ. Among other things, kids will learn how to bring other people to Jesus at a Christian academy. Kids will learn the power they have to be effective witnesses. By living Christian lives and standing firm in their beliefs, kids can show others how joyous a Christian lifestyle can be. Christian academies strive to help kids better themselves in all ways, including as witnesses.

3. Encourage Children to Pursue Higher Education

College can help young adults go far in life. In order to make sure kids pursue higher learning, the value of college should be discussed starting at an early age. Christian academies can create pro-education environments that get kids excited about learning. Many Christian academies are college prep schools where children will learn what they can expect as undergraduate students. Christian academies can encourage high schoolers to apply for Christian colleges where their spiritual growth will be carefully stewarded.

4. Allow Kids to Grow Their Knowledge of God's World

The Bible teaches that the world and everything in it belongs to God. Learning more about that world is one way that kids can glorify God. Christian academies offer students the chance to learn about the world around them. Kids will be instructed in math, science, English, and the arts. Using their intellect and growing their understanding is a key way that kids can prepare themselves to be effective young Christian men and women.

Benefits of Educational Choice

I recently made the decision to move my kids from their public school to a private religious school. It isn't that I thought that the public schools were doing a bad job of teaching the basics, but I wanted them to have more than just basics. I wanted them to learn about our faith -- not just Sunday at church, but how it affects our lives every day. I felt that a religious school could help them see our religion not as some abstract thing that only happens in church, but as something that is relevant to the math and spelling words and science that they study every day. I know that I'm lucky to have the choice to educate my kids this way. If you're looking for something more from your children's education, you should also look into exercising your right to choose the direction of your child's education.
