Two Reasons Why You Should Enroll Your Toddler In A Religious Preparatory School

Blog

If you have a small toddler who is just approaching school age, you are likely considering which preparatory school you should send them to.  You want to give them a great foundation of learning so that they will flourish once they are ready for kindergarten.  However, if you are strongly religious, you also must think about whether you should send the child to a public preparatory school, or one that is native to your religion.  Use this information to learn more about why a religious preparatory school is the right choice for your little one.

You Need A School That Shares Your Values

The main reason why you should enroll your child in a religious preparatory program is because the school shares your values.  You wouldn't want to spend most of your toddler's formative years instructing them in the tenets of your faith, only to purposely put them into an environment where your beliefs are not valued.

Understand that some public schools have a curriculum that restricts any reference to religion.  This is done because the children are so diverse and come from so many different backgrounds that the school wouldn't want to be responsible for offending a student.  However, because of this, some of the curricula can actually come off as being quite atheistic.  If you're trying to share values with your child that include a Creationist worldview, this could be greatly shattered if your child hears differing ideas.

That's why it's so important for your child to go to a religious preparatory school.  You can carefully screen the schools, even asking to read portions of the curriculum to see if it includes some of the same values that you've imparted to your child.

Religious Preparatory School Is The Safer Option

Another reason why you should send your child to a religious preparatory school is because it is the safer option.  They'll be surrounded by other students who more than likely have parents who taught them the tenets of the religion as well.  Things like hazing or bullying may not be a source of worry for you, especially if the classes are smaller and the teachers are able to keep a closer eye on each pupil.

If you are looking for a preparatory school for your child, talk to educators like the Clear Lake Christian School. They can give you an idea of the curriculum and discuss the benefits of attending a religious preparatory school.

Benefits of Educational Choice

I recently made the decision to move my kids from their public school to a private religious school. It isn't that I thought that the public schools were doing a bad job of teaching the basics, but I wanted them to have more than just basics. I wanted them to learn about our faith -- not just Sunday at church, but how it affects our lives every day. I felt that a religious school could help them see our religion not as some abstract thing that only happens in church, but as something that is relevant to the math and spelling words and science that they study every day. I know that I'm lucky to have the choice to educate my kids this way. If you're looking for something more from your children's education, you should also look into exercising your right to choose the direction of your child's education.
